Medium, A Platform To Publish Articles For Free

If you have a burning desire to write, publish articles for free on the internet, this post is for you.

While the most popular choice would be to have your own website or blog, many of us are maybe not that committed.

Medium is a platform that lets you publish articles for free. You can use it to build a brand for yourself. It has about 170 million readers worldwide.

Put out your thoughts into blog posts and see how people respond to them.

Medium is not about the platform making money off the ads or from its design. The overall design of the platform is quite minimal with a lot of white space.

It gives the content breathing space and lets it have the spotlight.

According to Ev Williams, founder of Medium, you can think of Twitter as “what’s happening,” you can think of traditional news as “what’s happened,” and you can think of Medium as “what really happened.”

The platform’s theme is about sharing longer-form, more well-thought-out content. But is not restricted to that.

Can you earn from your posts on Medium?

Don’t confuse Medium with a traditional blogging platform. It is not like Blogger, Wix, or WordPress.

You can’t really monetize your content on Medium. Not in India and Brazil. As of May 2021, Indian writers don’t have the option available.

If you’re not from these countries, you can earn from your content through Medium’s Partner Program.

Joining the Partner Program is free.

Write and publish your article with just one small change after you’ve enrolled yourself in the Partner Program.

Click on the ‘Meter my story’ box before publishing.

The payments are made to the writers on a monthly basis. The posts can’t be about a product, essentially not just an article selling something.

It should be of value and must have in-depth knowledge for its readers. Medium is not the place for click baits and tacky articles trying to earn from affiliate networks.

To be clear, the Partner Program pays you for your articles only.

Other modes of earning like placing ads and affiliates aren’t included.
