How To Edit Instagram Reels On Beats Of A Song Using Supersync: EASIEST Tutorial

Do you want to edit Instagram reels that go viral?

Instagram has been introducing new features more often than before. Some of them are pretty great while some are left unnoticed.

But this newest feature is something that is going to blow your mind!

Nothing is guaranteed when it comes to thinking about which reel has the potential of going viral. Nevertheless, we know some editing tips that are helpful in increasing your chances.

And one of them is to have cuts on the beats of the song when you edit Instagram reels.

Although nothing guarantees you if your Instagram reel would perform well, but reels that have cuts on beats have more chances of going viral.

It’s more attractive to look at and generally gets more traction compared to a reel with simple clips joined together.

Now, this was a tedious task before. Because you had to trim your video clips to the exact second of the beat and if the song or the audio has many beats back-to-back, you need a whole lot of precision.

Instagram has just saved all of us a lot of time by introducing this new feature called – supersync.

What is Supersync?

It is the feature that is going to make editing reels easier for all of us!

Basically, what you do is, select a bunch of photos and videos and then a song.

Instagram will automatically sync the media with the beats of the song. Poof! That’s it! 😮

Sounds amazing, right?

Let me take you through a step-by-step tutorial for this.

Step-by-step tutorial: Use the Supersync feature on Instagram

Supersync feature is available on Instagram stories and reels.

Go to > home, from where you create a new story/reel.

Select multiple media can be either photos or videos.

After they get imported, Instagram will apply an automatically suggested audio to your set of videos.

You can either use that or go to search and select your own song.

Instagram will adjust the video length, where to trim, where to put the next video so that it matches the beats in the audio.

This might not be the best thing because you can’t manually choose the best parts of your video clips. And Instagram’s Supersync feature doesn’t have that ability yet which would make it find the highlights of the video on its own.

I’ve tried the feature and it’s pretty decent! Might not be perfect but it is good enough for a beginner who wants to edit Instagram reels easily. I would recommend importing shorter clips so that the chances of a good scene getting used in the final video are more.

It’s a quick and useful Instagram editing feature that saves time and gets the job done. You can focus on shooting beautiful videos and let Instagram edit them on beats.

Some additions that I wish supersync gets next

  • The option to adjust a selected image, make it full screen or move/adjust it around
  • Get to choose which part of a video clip gets used, may be in the form of getting to mark highlights in videos
  • An option to be able to see the beats on which cuts are being made
  • Choose whether you want the cuts on the beats of the song or every next sentence/word
  • Suggest audio for a video depending on the content of the video
  • Suggest audios in tabs titled as trending, new, most popular etc.
