You no longer need to have 10,000 followers on Instagram to be able to add links to Instagram stories.

Commonly known as swipe up links, now they are available to all the users.

Earlier only the accounts that had a business profile or a creator account with over 10k followers could add swipe up links on their Instagram stories.

But the feature hasn’t reached out to everybody yet. It was launched on August 30.

The newly launched link sticker is a sticker that stays on the screen and shows the name of the domain you’re linking to.

It is more transparent.

Since the previous swipe up links didn’t show the actual page which was linked to the Instagram story.

The only thing you could see was the swipe up text button showing up at the bottom of the story.

In an interview with The Verge, Instagram’s VP of Product, Vishal Shah, confirmed they are testing making Instagram story links available to all account sizes.

Shah shared that the company is using the test mostly to learn how people might “take advantage of links,” while keeping a close eye on misinformation and spam.

A few Instagram accounts which have a considerable amount of reach on the platform are being given the new link sticker first. To see the response.

However, it is still unknown how widely this test will be made available, or when it will be rolled out fully.

Viewers could take a while to get used to the new link stickers, so prompting your followers to follow your links can really boost your clicks (and sales!).
