Many day-to-day items that you might already have around your place, can be flatlay props.
Every flatly tells a story. Flatlay Photography is not just a top shot of some items thrown in together.
Some things go behind creating an aesthetically pleasing flatlay. Your flatlay can be beautiful with multiple props and even with 2-3 props in a minimal theme.
To save yourself some time, plan out your flatlay in advance. Plan out the composition, write down the props you might need, the light that will match the mood, etc.
It can take some time to get used to this. But you will realize that your flatlays start looking more well-put and attractive.

List of 7 flatlay props you need
Cup & Saucer
One of the most versatile flatlay props has to be a cup and saucer. It can be styled in so many ways.
And even if it is not the hero prop in your flatlay, you can add it in a corner or at the back as a side prop.
They’re pretty affordable too! And chances are that you already have one in your house.
Flowers & greens
Flowers and greens bring in a fresh pop of colour in flatlays. You can use them as a bouquet, single flower, or petals spread around the setup.
Greens such as the popular monstera leaf or, succulents, a small potted plant can be a great addition to your flatlays.
As it is not possible to have fresh flowers with you at all times, invest in some good-quality artificial flowers too.
Dried flowers and pampas grass are a trending choice, although it is a bit more expensive than the other options.

Dainty Stationery items
Stationery items come in all sizes, big and small. You can get them online or at any nearby stationery store.
Some of the items that can be used as flatlay props are paper clips, notebooks, washi tapes, vintage scissors, etc.
Wooden & other trays
Create layers in your flatlay by using trays such as wooden, mirror trays, desk organizers, and cement trays.
Aesthetic cement and terrazzo trays are going around a lot these days on Instagram.

Ceramic plates
Thick ceramic plates in pastel colours are a gem. They can be a little harder to come across, but when you spot one, get it!
I have a white ceramic plate that I use often in my flatlays. Here’s how you can style it-
Small jewellery pieces
Bracelets, rings, and minimal necklaces add a luxe factor to your pictures. Keep the jewellery you wear and the jewellery you shoot separate.
For flatlays, you can manage with a bit more affordable accessories if you take care of them so that they don’t lose their color. Avoid wearing them and don’t let them touch the water.

Candles

Almost any kind of candle works for flatlays- jar candles, pillar candles, bubble candles, multi-wick candles, etc.
