Steps to use Pinterest to grow on Instagram
1. Claim your Instagram account
When you claim your Instagram account, you will be able to access Pinterest analytics. You can see which of your pins get the most engagement, which gets the most saves etc.
You can pin your posts from Instagram and your profile will be displayed on those pins. This will bring in more traffic to your Instagram account = more profile views.
Also, if anyone else pins your Instagram post, your profile will be shown in those pins as well. There will be a follow button shown on top of it.
When people repin your pins created from your Instagram posts, it keeps them alive for a longer time. Content on Instagram gets old pretty quickly.
But pins live forever.
Simply go to your Account settings and click on claim your Instagram account.
2. Pin your Instagram content
After posting your content on Instagram, go to your desktop and login to your Instagram account.
Open the post you want to pin and copy the URL from the browser window.
Choose the board to which you want to add the pin or create a new one. In the image below, I am creating a new pin for my Portrait Photography Ideas Board. Click on the plus icon on the right and select create pin.
This window will pop-up when you click on create a pin. Go to save from the site and enter the URL that you just copied from Instagram.
Don’t pin the posts randomly. Separate them into different boards so the posts are relevant to the board’s theme.
Did you know? There are more than 200 billion pins on Pinterest. 83% of weekly pinners have bought items they saw on Pinterest.
3. Time to apply SEO
You can call Pinterest the image version of Google of the Internet. It is like a search engine for images. Just like SEO works on the rest of the Internet, it works on Pinterest.
First, find your target keywords.
They are the words you want your post to rank for in the search results. Your target audience will be typing out these words, so put yourself in your audience’s shoes.
Where to put the keywords? Put them in your pin’s description and title. Pay more attention to the title. You can even put hashtags in the description just like you do on Instagram.
Keep trying out different keywords according to the content you post. You will see a spike in your Pinterest analytics and in turn, more people will be checking out your Instagram profile through Pinterest.
