5 Features on VN video editing app that I absolutely love!
1. Different ways to alter speed of your video clip | SPEED RAMPING!
Most video editing apps have the option to slow down or speed up a video. But on VN you’ll get 3 ways to alter the speed of your video.
CURVES
The first method is to use curves to change the speed of your video as it progresses forward.
What does this mean? See those white dots on the yellow line? The yellow line denotes the speed of your video and white dots represent the timestamp.
When the yellow line is a straight horizontal line, that means your video will play at its normal speed. The speed at which it was shot.
You can use those white dots by tapping on them, hold and move them either up or down.
When you take a dot’s position up, the speed of the video at that timestamp will increase and if you move the dot down, the video’s speed will slow down.
And as you might have already guessed, the more is the distance of the dot from the previous horizontal yellow line, the more will be the change in the speed. Be it speeding it up or slowing it down.
REGULAR
In the regular method of altering speed, you can simple move the slider horizontally to reduce or increase the speed. Such as increase the speed by 1.25x etc.
The change in the speed gets applied to the entire video clip.

PRESETS
Presets are an extension of curves. In curves, you can manually play around and create your own unique kind of speed ramping.
Presets help you if you’re not really sure of how to manually edit the curve to get a good output.
There are 6 presets available in VN video editing app: Montage, Hero Time, Bullet Time, Jump Cut, Fast In, and Fast Out.
Apply them on your video clip to see how they look!
2. Zoom FX
Have you seen those Instagram reels in which video clips have a slow zoom in our zoom out effect? It is subtle but makes a huge difference!
Transform your simple clip into something aesthetic by applying zoom effect on it.
You can find he zoom option on the bottom menu, you’ve to scroll to the extreme right to find it.
There are 6 options available in VN video editing app: zoom out, zoom in, move left, move right, move up, and move down.
The speed of zooming in or whichever effect you select, gets adjusted automatically according to the length of your video clip.
You can either apply this effect on individual video clips or apply it to the final video.
Simply, edit your video like you want to, export and save it to your phone.
Now, open this video in VN video editing app again in a new project and apply the zoom out filter on it and the effect will be applied throughout your video and different clips.

3. Import your own fonts
There are many font options available in VN video editing app. You can also import your own font and customize the look of your videos.
If you’re looking for websites that offer free fonts, here are some of them: dafont, 1001freefonts, 1001fonts, & fontspace.
When you download fonts from these sites, they’ll be downloaded in a zip folder.
Go to your Files Manager and extract the contents of the zip folder to make the font installation file available.
Now when you’re adding text in VN app while editing the video, click on the ‘+’ icon and select your font from the downloads folder.
I used my custom imported fonts in this Instagram reel I posted:

4. Filters
Most video editing apps have filters that are too strong and aren’t actually usable.
And I’ve tried out almost every popular app. VN app has a great set of filters available. I would recommend reducing the strength of the filters when applying them on your videos.
A subtle filter goes a long way, don’t over do it.
If you have multiple video clips in your project, you can click on ‘Apply to all’ so that you filter settings are copied and applied to each clip in the same way.
There are also basic adjustment options such has brightness, contrast, highlights, shadows, sharpness, etc.
Adjust these to get the perfect look in your videos.
5. Trending Transitions
Transitions in the VN app are quite great! There aren’t your common transitions. Most video editing apps have those transitions in their paid version.
But here you get them for free!
Some of the transitions are: reverse, blur, pixelate, hexagon, ink, paint etc.
