How To Make Instagram Stories Like a Pro: In-depth GUIDE

how to make instagram stories like a pro

Instagram stories were launched in 2016. At this point, it’s hard to imagine what Instagram would be without stories. Over 400 million stories are shared every day on the social media app.

After the onset of Instagram stories, Snapchat took a hit. Users switched to Instagram stories and never looked back. The number of people viewing Snapchat stories has decreased by 40% since Instagram stories came around.

Why Instagram stories are important?

So, it is safe to say that stories are one of the best features ever introduced on Instagram. They are easier to view which makes it grab more eyeballs throughout the day. That is if you are active enough on the app.

More than 60% of Instagram’s users post stories and honestly,+ I’d believe it if it said 80% too. 1/3rd of the most viewed stories are from businesses.

Okay, enough of the facts. Let’s get to the point straight now. Following are some tips to make your Instagram stories, some of them can qualify as hacks and they might be surprising to you. I didn’t know we could that!

How to make your Instagram stories stand out from the rest

Get new fonts for your Instagram stories

By new, I don’t mean the few fonts that you have available in the app. There’s a way you can add a new set of fonts to your stories. The next time when you’re typing text on to your story, select it and hit copy.

Go to your browser and type in ‘change font style online’. You will get a list of websites, the ones that I use are lingojam and coolsymbol. Open any of these sites and paste your text in the box. You’ll get your text written in a number of different fonts. Select and copy the text of the font which you like the best.

Now go back to the Instagram story that you were editing and hit paste. That’s it! Imagine the possibilities!

Rainbow coloured text

This can be a little tricky to master. In order to create a rainbow coloured text, select the text and hold the right selector and drag it slowly to the left. While you’re doing this, your thumb should be on the colour panel.

Drag your left hand’s thumb (which is on the right selector) and your right hand’s thumb (which is on the colour panel) together to the left. Confused? This video below should make it easier to understand.

Make a solid background for a call-to-action story

If you want to post a story which has a call-to-action, use a solid background instead of a picture. Solid background makes the text pop more and brings in more attention and curiosity to what it’s about.

To make a solid background, select any picture from your gallery for the Instagram story or click one random picture through the camera. Select the colours brush tool available on the app itself and select the colour of your choice.

Tap your finger on the photo, hold it and the photo will be painted over by that colour completely. Make sure to use a different colour for the text, one that is in contrast with the background colour. Some of the combinations that work well are: red and black, yellow and green, blue and pink etc.

Use pastel/aesthetic colours on the stories

Everyone uses the basic vibrant colours that are shown right on the app while creating a story. Put in a little extra effort and choose pastel colours. How to do that?

While selecting a colour, long press on any of the colours and an expanded band of all the colours of the rainbow will show up.

Learn how to create a 3D text effect

There’s no direct feature to do a 3D text edit on your story. The trick is to type the same text twice and place them on top of each other. One of them has to be of a darker colour so that it looks like a shadow.

Decorate your stories with emojis

Emojis are nothing new. You probably use them already in your stories. But you can get more creative with emojis to make the picture in your story quirky. Use emojis that match the mood of the story you’re posting.

For example, if the sky covers the most area in the picture, you can add clouds emojis. If you’re drinking a coffee in the picture, you can add coffee and cookie emojis.

Add a background photo while sharing a post on your story

Yes, you read that right. There is a hack that can let you do this. Make people wonder how you did it and make your Instagram stories stand out with this trick.
