Do you want to learn how to do the typewriter effect in DaVinci Resolve?
By typewriter effect, I mean how a block of text appears on the screen one by one, one character at a time.
Here is an example of how this typewriter effect looks.
Using the typewriter effect in your videos is like adding a cool twist. It makes words appear one by one, grabbing people’s attention and making them curious about what’s coming next.
Also, since it makes people curious about what’s coming next if you apply this effect to your Instagram reels, it will increase the watch time.
As people stay on your Instagram reel for a longer time, increasing its watch time, your reel will be boosted and shown to more people. More chances of going viral!
This effect works great for highlighting important stuff or quotes and making your videos more interesting. It’s like mixing old-fashioned charm with modern style.
Whether you’re making a how-to video, a vlog, or a movie, using the typewriter effect makes your words more exciting and keeps people interested. It’s a bit like a magic trick that makes your videos stand out and stick in people’s minds.

Step #2 – Set stamps in the Edit tab
Go to the Edit tab and add a Custom title (text+) over your video. Do this by simply going over to text and drag-and-drop custom text over your video.
Type out the text you want to add.
On the right-hand side, go to the Inspector and Title tab. Scroll down till you see the Write on option listed below Emphasis.
On the timeline, go take the play head to the point where you want the typewriter effect to end and then click on the diamond (to add a timestap for the effect) that is placed on the right end of the Write on option.
The diamond will turn orange after you click on it.
Now, take the play head to the point where you want the typewriter effect to begin.
After you’ve moved the play head to this point, go to the Write on option and pull the end point’s to the left to make the value of End to 0.0. (See the screenshot below)
And that’s it! Play the video and see the typewriter effect in action.
