Have you come across a seamless post on Instagram? They’re highly intriguing & engaging.
It’s a new and trending format for sharing information on a topic. The result looks like a continuous brochure that you’re swiping through.
I mean, whenever I come across a seamless multipost, I always swipe till I get to the end. It builds suspense with each slide effectively.
If you haven’t seen one yet, here’s an example:
This was the first seamless post I designed in Photoshop. I agree the design isn’t the best as it was my first try. I designed the following two after I learned a bit more about them, kinda more proud of this one:
If you are a Photographer like me, you can showcase your picture like this in a magazine-like layout:
We will get to the design tips later, first, let’s see how you can make it on Photoshop.
Trust me, it is not as hard as it looks.

How to create a seamless post on Instagram using Photoshop
Set the canvas size
Open Adobe Photoshop.
Click on File > New.
This window will pop up, in which you have to enter the dimensions of your document. The best size for go-to is the Instagram portrait ratio of 4:5.
It covers the maximum amount of screen on a mobile device when compared to the square and landscape ratio. This gives you more area to make people interested in your post.
The Instagram portrait ratio is 1080 x 1350 pixels. (width x height)
Decide on how many pictures/slides you want to have in your seamless post for Instagram.
Let’s say you want 5. Multiply the width, 1080 with 5. Our final width will be 5,400.
Height remains the same.
Enter these dimensions in the window and make sure the metric is selected to pixels. Hit okay and you’ll have your document ready like this:
Use a guide layout to split the canvas into individual images
Right now, you just have a long blank page. You can’t make out where one picture/slide starts and ends.
We will create a guide layout to see our 5 slides clearly on the canvas.
Go to View (in the menu bar at the top) > New Guide Layout.
A window, like in the picture above will show up. Select columns and enter the number of columns you want. This is the same number with which you multiplied the width (1080 pixels) of the post.
Here, we chose 5, so I am going to type in 5 under columns and hit OK.
Now you will be able to see the guides/lines showing you where the 5 images are placed. Start designing!

Cropping & Exporting the final design of your seamless post
Once you are happy with what you have designed, it is time to export it and export it as individual images, not as one long brochure.
How do we do that?
Right-click on the crop tool and select the slice tool.
After selecting the slice tool, you will see an option of ‘slice from guides’ appear at the top. Click on it and it will crop the design into 5 individual images.
Pretty simple right?
Now comes the final step, exporting it as individual images.
Go to File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy).
If you can’t view the entire design on the screen, simply right-click and select fit in view.
Click on the blue icon that says ’01’ to select that picture. Set the format to JPG and quality to 100. Do this for all the pictures and in the end, click on save to export the seamless post as a set of individual images on your desktop.
