Step-by-step tutorial for adding doodles on reels
1. Open the notes app
Go to the notes app on your iPhone & create a new note.
Don’t type out the text, select the paintbrush, pencil, or pen. Whichever you prefer.
Using the brush, doodle the text you want to add to your Instagram reel.
If you’re not good with writing this way, I recommend writing short words that can be used as titles on reels.
For example, life lately, photo dump, video dump, grwm, day out, sunset lover, etc.
Quick note
If you want to write the text in the color white, you have to first put your iPhone in the dark mode so that the default note’s color becomes black.
Otherwise, your white doodle won’t be visible on the white background of the notes app.
Set your creativity free! You can write or draw anything and everything that comes to your mind.
Keep the doodle simple and aesthetic, and avoid adding too many elements that can take the focus off the actual reel video.
2. Copy the doodle
After you’re done with the doodle and happy with what you’ve created, select the second-last pen on the screen.
I highlighted it in the screenshot above.
Outline the doodle or the text you wrote, it will get selected and a dotted line will appear around your doodle.
Tap and hold over the doodle, until the copy button appears. Click on copy and now head to Instagram.
3. Adding the doodle over the reel video
Open the Instagram app and head to the reel you’re working on.
Either start editing a new reel or open one from your saved drafts.
Go to the add text option on reels and long press on the screen where the cursor appears. A ‘paste’ button will appear, click on it, and boom!
The doodle that you selected from notes will show up on the top of your reel video.
You’ve successfully added a doodle to your Instagram reel!
