Pinterest Tips For Bloggers 2019

How to get followers on Pinterest

Building a good follower base is as important for Pinterest as it is for any other social media platform.

Go to search option on Pinterest and type in your niche. For example, if you want to post pins about photography, then type photography.

In the search results, click on all pins to see the options: Your Pins, Product Pins, Videos, People and Boards.

Click on People and you will see people who are Photographers and are interested in Photography or have Photography related content on their profiles.

In order to showcase your blog and work, you must interact in a healthy manner with these pinners. They are bloggers or people just like you; so don’t panic or don’t behave like a robot when you approach them.

Now what you have to do is follow some of them and engage with their pins, comment on them.

Don’t keep doing this for long or your account can be deleted if you spam accounts.

60% of the people you follow will follow you back. Instead of doing this for a lot of people at a single go, have a fixed number for a day.

For example, follow and engage with only 10 accounts a day and prevent yourself from looking like a spammer.

Create and Manage Pinterest Boards

Pinterest Boards make it easy for the viewer to navigate to the pins they might be interested in.

A board is basically a collection of Pinterest pins that belong to the same niche or topic.

Create niche specific boards on your profile and sort out the pins accordingly.

Go to the Boards tab and click on the ‘+’ icon to create a new board

Choose the name of the board wisely. It should be something that people would type in the search box.

Consider it similar to SEO. You have to enter a name that is more likely to be searched for.

If you keep the visibility to the secret, then only you will be able to see the board and the pins in it. It won’t available for public to see.

Make at least 5-6 boards on your profile to get the most out of the Pinterest traffic.

How to make attractive Pinterest Pins

I will recommend Canva because that’s what I use to create my own Pinterest pins.

They have many templates available to choose from and they are specifically sized for a pin.

You can either customize a template or build your own from scratch. If you are looking for free high-quality pictures to use in your pins, check out sites like Unsplash, Pixabay, and Pexels.

Always put in a call to action text in the pin and use colors that are pleasing to the eyes.

Refrain from using too many colors at once. Also, the font shouldn’t be too curvy or stylist because it can make it hard to read.

People should be able to look at the pin and know what the content is about at one glance.

I strongly suggest surfing through Pinterest before creating your own pins. This way you will get an idea of how people design their pins.

You can get ideas and see what kind of designs are more popular around here.

Here are some examples of Pins that I have designed:

  1. Pinterest is changing their algorythm as we speak and traffic has been very unpredictable lately. Even with a good strategy, until they stabilise things again it’s all a gamble.
