It’s a big deal for almost all the Photographers, to get your work published in magazines. For the longest time, I had no idea of the process behind it.
How do I submit my photographs? What are the rules and regulations?
A few months ago, I came across a website by the name Kavyar.com and all of my questions were answered.

How to get your work published in magazines
Kavyar is a site through you which can submit to many magazines. The platform has magazines listed on it and you can earn either earn a feature in print, web or social media.
There are different mediums on which your work can get featured: print, web, digital and social media.
Some of the genres which are available are Fashion, Beauty, Portrait, Fine Art, Glamour, Men, Commerical, Fantasy etc. Through Kavyar, I’ve gotten my work published in Elegant Magazine, Art of Portraits, Horizont Magazine and on the cover of Picton Magazine. About Submissions
At the home page, you will see magazines and their themes for their issues. You can either find a theme that suits that pictures you want to submit or choose a magazine and shoot according to that theme.
There’s a theme called the open theme. That basically means that it accepts all kind of works. Some of the magazines have a Pinterest board to give an idea of what kind of pictures they are looking for. If you edit/shoot your pictures in a similar style, your chances of being selected will increase.
Most of the magazines have different kind of submissions, free and paid options. I’ve seen only a few that accept only paid ones. I’ve not done a paid submission as of now, so I can’t share my experience with that.
Personally, all you need is confidence. Confidence in your work and the fire to keep creating because you love doing it and not with the main aim to get it published. Being featured somewhere is a perk, not a necessity.

Submissions outside Kavyar
At the bottom of the homepage, you’ll see a list of magazines to which you can submit your work outside of Kavyar. These magazines take up submissions on their own sites.

How to choose a magazine to submit to
On the page of every magazine, their Instagram handle and website will be mentioned. Check out their social presence as well as the reach of the publication. Weigh in your options and go with the one that can give you the maximum amount of exposure.
Also, have a look at their previous issues to see what kind of work have they previously featured to see if your taste is similar to theirs.
Some of the magazines have rules and regulations that state that your work shouldn’t be published anywhere, neither on social media nor or any other magazine. Read them carefully before going forward with the submission.
Some basic things to take care of: mention all the team members in the credits area, such as the makeup artist, hairstylist, retoucher and so on. You have to mention their Instagram handles and email them through the platform.
They will receive a verification mail in their inbox, all they have to do is sign up on Kavyar. After this, their credits will be verified in your photographs.
