No Emojis
Don’t use hashtags with emojis. As they’re harder to type, people will naturally avoid searching for such hashtags.
Moreover, they are not supported by the API documentation of Instagram.
Don’t repeat them
Don’t use the same set of hashtags for every post.
Mix them up. Remember to use only relevant hashtags that are related to the content of the picture.

Fewer hashtags ≠Better reach
The theory that using fewer hashtags gives you a better reach isn’t proved. So, take full benefit of hashtags and use at least 25 of them.
You can’t use the same set of hashtags repeatedly but you can reuse 6-7 sets of them.
Have different sets of hashtags for different kinds of posts. One set for travel posts, another for flatlay posts, etc.

Don’t add hashtags in your bio
Adding hashtags in your bio doesn’t help. Accounts don’t show up when someone searches for a hashtag on Instagram. It can look spammy.
Although, if you’re putting your hashtag to let people know that you’ll be checking out posts under your hashtag, that’s fine.
Think of hashtags as ‘Keywords’
When thinking of which hashtags to use, think of them as keywords and not descriptions.
E.g. if you are sharing tips on how to grow on Instagram, use #growoninstagram rather than #instagramhacks.
BONUS: Land on the explore page!
Relevant hashtags ONLY
Use hashtags that your target audience/clients would search for. E.g. if you’re a photographer in Delhi, use #delhiphotographer instead of #photographersofinstagram. This way, people who are looking for accounts like yours, will be able to find you more easily

In the caption or comments?
Hashtags don’t work better or worse if you put them in a comment rather than in the caption.
You can put them in a comment to make your captions look more readable.
Follow the top creators
Don’t spend too much time researching hashtags. Focusing on your content should be your top priority.
One thing that you can do is, follow the top creators in your niche and try out their set of hashtags to find the ones that will work for you.
There’s a way through which you can find out exactly which hashtags give you the most reach, check it out here.
Are you putting hashtags in stories?
Hashtags in Instagram stories don’t help. Why? Only when you search for a hashtag individually and head to its top pages, you’ll see the stories in those hashtags. This means that your story is not shown to any new people.
