Starting Your Own Blog on WordPress with Bluehost

Difference between WordPress and Bluehost

30% of the world’s websites run on WordPress. It is one of the most widely used CMS (Content Management System). WordPress is also commonly known by the name ‘WordPress Blogging Platform’. If you are planning on starting your own blog, keep on reading.

You can download WordPress software from WordPress.org or you can install it on your hosting as a package. It is widely used because it is open-source software and is free to use.

As I said before, WordPress is site-building software. So, you will need a hosting on which you can install it. This is when Bluehost comes into the picture. Using Bluehost, you can buy a hosting and install WordPress software on it.

BlueHost provides you with hosting space on which you may host WordPress sites or any other that you want.

BlueHost has plans for dedicated servers, cloud hosting, VPS, and shared hosting, all of which are priced moderately. It provides extensive CMS, language, and database support and is there for customers 24/7 through live chat, email, and over the phone.

Why I recommend self-hosted WordPress

One of the biggest disadvantages of free WordPress.com blog is that you can’t monetize it. You can’t use popular Ad networks like Google Adsense, Media.net or even affiliate marketing.

If you’re thinking to start a blog only for personal reasons and not with the goal to make an income out of it, you should opt for WordPress.com simply because it is free of cost.

From my personal experience

I won’t recommend anything to you without testing it myself. I know buying a hosting and domain name for your blog is a big step into professional blogging and it sure is difficult to find a service you trust.

Bluehost Webhosting is officially recommended by WordPress hosting page, and it’s the best choice for your new WordPress blog. It’s affordable with hosting prices starting at just $2.95 per month. They also offer a 30-day money back guarantee.

It includes a FREE domain, SSL and 1-Click WordPress install. I’ve had my fair share of doubts while my blog was in the process of being set up on Bluehost servers and the customer care was there to attend my queries 24/7.

Selecting a domain name

The domain name is going to be the identity of your blog. Choose it wisely. If you have a domain name already you can click on I have a domain name or else you can get yourself a free domain name with the Bluehost hosting plans.

Entering payment details

Now that everything is set, all you need to do is enter your personal information and choose the mode of payment for your selected hosting plan. After this, hit Submit.

You’ll be asked to create a password in the next step. This password will be used to login to your dashboard, so make it hard to crack. Don’t use the obvious terms like your name and sequence of numbers like 1234.
