The photo dump trend on Instagram is the most easiest and effective. It’s kind of a Gen-Z favorite.
It is a trend that you can hop on when you’ve loads of photos and want to make an Instagram reel quickly.

What is the photo dump trend?
The photo dump trend is also used as carousel posts. But here we are talking about the reel version of it. In the Instagram reel version of the photo dump trend, the reel video is composed of multiple photos or videos.
All of the photos/videos are very short and don’t stay on the screen for long. That’s the hook of the photo dump trend on Instagram.
Basically, it’s a collection of photos that fall under a single category. This category can be anything that you want it to be, some examples are:
- Pictures from a vacation
- From a day/night out with friends
- Of different sunset skies
- Of different cafes you’ve visited in your city
- Coffees you’ve had lately
- Candid raw shots of you working at your desk
- Pictures from a single location like a cafe/hotel/store/recipe
A photo dump trend is not about perfection. You don’t necessarily need to edit each picture you’re using or even make sure that each picture is perfect.
Short video clips can also be used in the photo dump trend. Preferably on the beats of the audio/song you’re using.
