Engaging Instagram Reels have become a big part of content creation for both Instagram Influencers and brands alike.
There is no rule or a specific number for how many reels you should be posting in a day or in a week. But one thing that is rewarded for sure is consistency.
Along with consistency, valuable and engaging Instagram reels when posted regularly can help you grow your following. Instagram actively pushes the content of accounts that make use of different features on the app, like reels.
And not just grow in the terms of numbers, but also quality. The point of reels is only to reach a new audience. When people see your reel and they love it, they are obviously more likely to come back and visit your profile.
Your profile then determines if they will follow you or not.
So, don’t your whole energy into Instagram Reels, save some energy for your overall profile too.
You can be the expert in your niche and your Instagram Reels might still not perform if you are not shooting and posting them in the right way.
Although reels are short, barely 30-60 seconds long, there are certain ways in which you can keep them engaging in addition to being share-worthy.
Let’s look at some ways in which you can make sure your reels are engaging every single time.

Create engaging Instagram Reels starting from today!
What’s your storyline?
Your Instagram reel can be both: with a storyline or without.
Luckily, both kinds work well. An example of a reel with a storyline would be a video of someone sharing a quick recipe. And for a reel without a storyline, think of a video which is a slideshow of pictures from a vacation, pictures of a certain aesthetic in a fast-paced edit, and matching audio.
Here’s an example-
I would suggest that you should experiment and post both kinds. Switch up your reel content to keep it interesting.
Writing down always helps.
Start by looking at the content you already have-
- What are your best performing posts?
- What kind of posts of yours have gotten the most number of shares?
- Do you travel a lot? If yes, sift through the photos & videos from your trips
- If you post carousels, you can convert them into reels
- What are some FAQs that people DM you about?
You don’t necessarily have to do everything all together. Take your time. Look at your analytics on Instagram thoroughly.
Find your CTA, make a list, and think about what all engaging Instagram reels you can shoot.
Everyone loves an honest behind the scenes video
I’m so happy to see that more and more people and brands share their true, uncut behind-the-scenes on Instagram reels.
It is always a delight to know how a brand makes its products or how a small business started out from nothing other than the person’s passion and dedication to their art.
A behind-the-scenes reel builds a trustworthy image.
So, the next time you’re out of ideas, make a BTS Instagram reel. Compile your un-used, not-so-perfect clips, they can even be bloopers.

Teach your audience a new skill
Teach your audience a new skill, a small part of it that you can explain in 30-60 seconds. A quick how-to video is bound to get more saves and shares.
For example, I’m a photographer, so I can share reels on how to shoot product photos, how to edit pictures, etc.
If you’re not sure what your audience wants to learn more about, simply post a story, use a poll sticker, and ask them to send in their questions.
For instance, I often talk about Instagram growth, Product Photography tips & tricks, etc. I can convert carousels like this one into a reel-
Keep it relatable & simple!
When you post reels in which the viewers can imagine themselves, it is relatable content.
Spend some time thinking about who your audience is what are the things they would relate to. It can Instagram reels related to upcoming festivals, a situation that people often find themselves in, etc.

Quickly Introduce the hook in the video
People are going through reels pretty quickly. You have just 3 seconds to grab their attention and make them decide if they want to continue watching your Instagram reel or skip to the next one.
Look at this reel I posted recently-
Because the title of the video is visible right from the first second of the video, the viewer already knows what to expect from the rest of the video, which is – Things that you shouldn’t do as an Instagram Influencer.
The same goes for this Instagram Reel in which I have shared 10 Reels Ideas for Photographers.
People don’t have to wait to figure out what the video is about. This will make them stay and watch the video till the end.
Reels that have pointers are more likely to be saved by people. So, whatever your content is, mold it in such a way that points can be made.
Use easy-to-read fonts and contrasting colors that don’t hurt the eyes.
