There are better ways to do this, but that includes using professional software like Adobe Photoshop which is not everyone’s cup of tea.
Picsart is a great app for editing on your mobile, it offers quite a number of tools. Using Picsart, you can add rainbow tears to portraits, add dispersion effect in photos and so much more.
In this post, I’ll share with you how to add a colored background to a photo. I added a colored background to a photo I wanted to use as my Instagram profile picture.
I realized that when I saw accounts which had a solid color background behind the person, it made me click on them quicker.
Okay, I don’t know the science behind this but trust me and see for yourself. A pleasing solid color background makes a difference.
This is the picture I edited for my Instagram profile picture. Try to color coordinate some part of your clothing with a solid background.

How To Add A Colored Background To A Photo
After selecting the picture, you have to decide which color background you want. Once you have decided the color, open the Picsart App.
Go to Backgrounds and choose the first rainbow-colored ring to select the color you chose.
Go to Add Photo and select your photo from your phone’s gallery.
Your picture will open up and will be placed on top of the solid color background. But we want only you in the picture, the original background has to be removed.
For this, go to the cutout tool.
After going to the cutout tool, you have two options to select the foreground from the picture. Either you can use the already existing portrait selection or you can draw a rough outline around yourself manually.
I prefer the manually drawn outline as it ensures a cleaner cutout. But don’t worry if it is not proper, using the brush and eraser you can fix that.
Once you are done with the selection hit okay. Now it’s just you on the solid background. You can stop here or you can add a white border. I like it with the border so I’m going to add a white border around the cutout of myself.
To do that, go to the border while the cutout is still selected. Select which color border you want and apply it.
And that’s it!
