On my trip to Andaman, we went to Havelock Island on the second day. You’ve to take a ferry ride from Port Blair to Havelock which takes approximately 1.5 hours.

The price of the ticket can vary depending on whether you take a government ferry (Rs. 400) or a private one (Starting from Rs.1000). If you’re a budget traveler, I would recommend the government ferry. It was pretty satisfactory.
Because anyway you will spend most of the time upon the deck adoring the ocean view. Most tourists spend their time on the deck taking pictures and videos. While the local people rest down in the seating area.
We booked our Andaman trip package through Tripoto so our entire itinerary was decided beforehand. Finalizing on a package was pretty flexible. We had conversations with them back and forth about the places that we’ll be covering and on which days. You can add or remove spots as per your wish, according to your requirements they’ll share the updated package costs with you.
So, back to our second day in Port Blair.

Breakfast in Hotel King Safire before leaving Port Blair
I had breakfast in my hotel in Port Blair, Hotel King Safire, after which I packed my stuff and head to the docks to board the ferry to Havelock.
That breakfast was my favorite meal of the entire trip! The breakfast spread was quite a lot, it had bread & omelet, tea, parottas (which is only my most favorite thing in the world?!), aloo sabzi, butter, jam, and poha.
Although I had a ferry to sit on the next 2 hours, I couldn’t help but stuff all of the yummy food in my belly. oops.
Taking the ferry from the dock
The ferry was scheduled for 10:30 am. The hotel was kind enough to let us stay longer than the check-out time as we had nothing else planned for the day in Port Blair. Oh yes! Strangely, the check-out time in the hotels in Andaman & Nicobar Islands is around 8:00 am.
We had someone from the travel agency who took care of the ferry tickets for us. The ride from the hotel to the dock was pretty short, it took hardly 15 minutes.
You’ll need your Aadhar card for verification purposes to book the ferry tickets. I went in February, at that time I needed a negative COVID-19 report as well.
Andaman had recently been announced as the first union territory to be free of COVID-19. Perfect timing 🙂
I had to show my COVID-19 report at the airport, at the dock, and pretty much at every touristy place.
After we got our tickets, we waited for our ferry to arrive. I always had my camera, GoPro, mobile-ready on me in my sling bag. I came to shoot, a lot.
Basically spent every waking moment taking pictures around me because it was just so freaking beautiful!
I went around the dock and took a few pictures and videos while we waited for the ferry.

You’re in the middle of nowhere! 😮
A quick tip: Have a full sleeves shirt/hat/sunglasses or a scarf with you for the ferry ride because it is going to be pretty sunny out there. And don’t forget to pack some sunscreen.
The view on the ferry ride to Havelock Island was out of this world! It feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Just you, the wide blue ocean and the wind.
Stay tuned to see more of the gorgeous Havelock Island and the Havelock Holiday Beach Resort I stayed at in the next blog post!
