When 2021 began, I came across a song on Spotify that made me dream of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Do you know how Spotify suggests new songs according to your taste in music?
It was Coolin’ (The Island Interlude) by ERNEST.
I heard it on a lazy winter afternoon, sitting on my balcony. The first thing I thought of, the first image that came in my head was of the Andamans. I could imagine myself sitting under a coconut tree on a bright sunny day, just listening to the waves crashing on the beach.
Out of excitement, I started checking out flights and hotels in Andaman the next minute. I texted my friends saying “we have to go to Andaman & Nicobar Islands this year, IDK how but just have to!”
I seemed to have forgotten about the ongoing pandemic and the realities of the plans that life holds for us.
A month later, out of nowhere, a family trip came up, talked about, and finalized in just 3 days. And guess where it was to? Andaman & Nicobar Islands :’)
At first, I didn’t let myself get too happy and excited about it. Was saving it till the flight tickets were all done with.
This is because I’ve had such plans before, a lot often actually. I read online, make maps, list places in the order in which I should visit them and then the trip gets canceled.
Thankfully, everything went well this one. Thanks Universe!

Finding an Andaman & Nicobar Islands Travel Package Online
Now that we had the tickets, we had the most important step to be taken next. Deciding whether we want to take a package or plan the trip ourselves.
I spent 2 whole days checking out the packages on sites like Tripoto, Travel Triangle, Make My Trip, etc.
I swear I felt like I’ve seen all the hotels and restaurants available around the area. Some of the things that I always looked for while finding a package were:
- Number of meals included
- Number of Islands included
- Do they have an extra bed or they provide an extra mattress?
- Distance from the main tourist spots
- Closeness to the city’s market
- Do they have a pool or a private beach?
BTW, I wouldn’t recommend Travel Triangle. I started getting way too many calls, texts, emails from them. Almost like spam. Even after I told one of their representatives that I’m back in Delhi, I’ve had my vacation in Andaman already, I kept getting the calls for a few more days.
So, just giving you a pointer to have one less thing to worry about.

I found an awesome deal through Tripoto. Our trip was a 5 day-trip, from February 8-12. It looked something like this:
My itinerary!
Day 1: Flight from Delhi to Port Blair. After landing in Port Blair, resting at the Hotel Safire for a while. Visiting the Cellular Jail, Corbyn Cove Beach (has water sport activities), and the light & sound show at Cellular Jail in the evening.
Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel before we leave for a ferry to Havelock. Upon reaching Havelock, check in to the Havelock Holiday Beach Resort. Visit the Radhanagar Beach, voted as the best beach in Asia by TIME in 2004.
Day 3: Scuba diving in the morning and Kalapathar Beach during the day.
Day 4: After breakfast, check out from the hotel and come back to Port Blair by ferry. Check in to the Haywizz Hotel (I don’t recommend this hotel). Post lunch, visit Chidiya Tapu and Munda Pahad Beach.
Day 5: Local sight-seeing in Portblair in the morning. Check out from the hotel and board the flight back to Delhi.
Photography Inspiration & Clothes
Well, this is not a surprise, I’m a Photographer. A major part of my excitement for the trip was because of the beautiful place I would get to shoot.
I created a Pinterest mood board to save all the ideas for beach photos, videos, outfits, and more.
Here’s a quick tip, when your outfit has colors extracted from the colors of the surroundings it looks more well put together in pictures.
For Andaman and the beaches it has, I chose the colors blue, white, green, pink and red for my outfits. Sometimes, blend in and sometimes stand out with bright colors!
Here as some essentials that I think you should be packing:
- A beach hat
- A pair of sunglasses
- A loose white shirt that you can wear over your top/shirt
- A scarf
- Light and easy-to-carry accessories
- A pair of slippers
- Lots of sunscreen
- A pair of shorts (not the denim ones)
- Cotton dresses, maxi-dresses or comfortable skirts
- Hand towels
- A bodysuit/swimsuit if you’re planning on some pool photos
