GoPro has launched its newest GoPro Hero 8 Black action camera which costs $399.
It comes with many upgrades such as improved stabilization when I couldn’t even think it could get any better than it already was with GoPro Hero 7 Black last year.
It can shoot 4K video at up to 60 frames per second. The Hypersmooth feature is enhanced even more and now works on all shooting modes. There is a new feature of optional horizon leveling, which is another leap forward for EIS.
The highlight of this launch was the introduction of Mods. Mods are customized accessories that you can use with your GoPro to expand its capabilities.
A higher-quality microphone, a small LED light, and a flip-up display are available as Mod accessories.
It can be assumed that the new line of accessories have been launched by seeing the rise in the number of vloggers.

New Set of Features in GoPro Hero 8 Black
Hypersmooth 2.0
The improved stabilization affects the crop only by 10 percent. The stabilization can be further improved by compromising with the crop and turning the Boost mode on.
Horizon Leveling
Horizon leveling which was earlier available in GoPro Fusion 360 camera is not launched in HERO 8 Black.
To use horizon leveling, you have to switch it one from the GoPro mobile app. Using this feature, your footage will be straight even in a situation where you can’t mount it on a perfectly flat surface.
TimeWarp 2.0
TimeWarp 2.0 creates a stabilized motion time-lapse video.
It automatically calculates the time-lapse speed based on the amount of camera motion. You can slow down to real-time by tapping the on-screen button, and then speed back up into hyper-lapse with a second tap.
This feature can make your videos look more dramatic because you can slow down the hyper-lapse when your subject comes into focus and then speed up again.
LiveBurst Feature
LiveBurst feature buffers frames before the shutter button are pressed, then saves 1.5 seconds of footage captured before and after pressing it.
It works like live photos in Apple. In the end, you can either save a single frame or the clip as a video.
New Design of the HERO8 Black body
There is a new side door that lets you change the memory card without having to remove the camera from the mount.
The lens is the same but now it has a protective glass that is thicker and twice as hard as before.
The touch interface has been upgraded to make navigation easier. The new Preset Menu lets you save 10 customized presets for shooting in different situations.
GoPro Hero 8 Black Mods
Media Mod
The Media Mod comes with an integrated microphone, HDMI, 3.5mm port, USB Type-C, and in-built two cold shoe mounts.
The HDMI-out port can be used for playback on your TV. You can attach mics, Display Mod and Light Mod on the two cold-shoe mounts.
The inbuilt mic in the media mod gives you crystal clear audio by reducing wind noise.
The Media Mod costs $79.99.
