How to make your home look expensive on a budget
1. Replace the branded bottles with simple basic bottles
Branded bottles have tacky and bright packaging on them. And since each branded item has different packaging, it looks more cluttered when placed around your house.
You can swap those bottles with simple glass/plastic containers that are brand-free and of neutral colors. You can get them for cheap when bought wholesale or online through Amazon.
You can buy them either in plastic, Tupperware, or glass/ceramic. Although glass and ceramic are more eco-friendly options, plastic isn’t that bad of a choice.
Why?
Because you will no longer need to buy the product bottle, simply buy the refill pouch which retails for a lesser cost too. You are saving money and reducing your single-use plastic consumption in the long run.
So, what are the products whose bottles you can swap?
- Dishwashing liquid & other cleaning supplies
- Handwash dispenser
- Kitchen storage containers for things like sugar, tea, coffee, etc.
2. Keep low-maintainence indoor plants
Plants liven up a space instantaneously with their presence. Use low-maintenance plants around your house if you’re not big on taking care of the plants regularly.
The important thing here is that the plant’s size and the pot’s design should match your overall home decor.
Keep your room’s size in mind while selecting a plant, it shouldn’t take too much of the space too. White potted plants work well with most homes. Also, choose the place where you want to place the plant before going out to buy one.
If you can’t find good-looking pots for your plants, you can simply hide the ugly pots using jute baskets like this one-

3. Add a statement light to elevate the space
Changing the light in a room can really revamp the whole vibe of it.
Invest in a statement light fixture, rattan hanging lights, floor lamps, or a chandelier that is unique.
A new and more sophisticated light will elevate your room’s feel. If you can’t afford to buy a whole new light at the moment, you can just change the shades on the existing ones.
